Travels to Mexico kept me out
of the pool a bit.

March 2020

Swam 84,000 yds in 20 days, averaged 4,200 per day.
9,100 under target

Managed to hit my monthly target before the sh*t hit the fan! But still didn't make up last month's shortfall.

April 2020

Swam 86,100 yds in 20 days, averaged 4,305 per day.
6,332 under target

With the COVID shutdowns, the pool went cold. Had to pull out the wetsuit. Even with, it was a challenge!

May 2020

Swam 72,500 yds in 18 days, averaged 4,028 per day.
17,165 under target

The weather improved a bit. Tried swimming without the suit. That didn't last for long.

June 2020

Swam 92,300 yds in 21 days, averaged 4,395 per day.
8,200 under target

Amazing - no major roadblocks! With good weather, I hit my stride.

July 2020

Swam 93,200 yds in 26 days, averaged 3,585 per day.
1,669 over target

Passing the halfway mark, things were moving along. With the beautiful summer weather and another strong month, it was the first time since January that I was on pace.

August 2020

Swam 72,500 yards in 20 days, averaged 3,625 per day.

Just when we thought things were slowly returning to normal, lighting struck (literally) and inundated the state with fires and smoke. With air quality worse than the most polluted cities in the world, training was a health hazard.

September 2020

Swam 85,500 yards n 22 days, averaged 3,886 per day.
7,000 under target

Surpassed the monthly target to make up some ground, but was still behind the YTD goal.

October 2020

Swam 95,000 yards, in 27 days, averaged 3,519 per day.
4,670 over target

With no smoke and lovely autumn weather, it was my best month. At one point, I swam 11 days straight to ensure that I'd be ahead of plan.

November 2020

Swam 92,000 yards, in 24 days, average 3,833 per day. 13,337 over target

Launched fundraising effort with an extraordinary response. CRI received over $11,000 in donations in the first 10 days and almost $19,000 at month's end !
Another strong month of swimming left me well ahead of schedule.

December 2020

1,000,000

Plenty of 4000-yard days, a bunch of much-needed rest days and I still reached 998,000 yards by the 26th.
Donations poured in, particularly the few days before my last swim workout on Sunday, the 27th. Close to 40 donor/swimmers joined me, and Olympian Kim Vandenberg slowed down to set a pace for me as I swam those last 2000 yards.
It was a simple but impactful event and we reached our goal of $50,000!  Now we're shooting for more!
